low
His room was low,
all of it, low
nothing on the walls
the bed, just above
the floor
his clothes
books
on the floor
stuff along the walls
in the middle
of the room
To bend
down
to pick up
a magazine
I crouched
to reach a lamp switch
Too low
I thought
And went to sleep
and fell asleep
and woke up
standing up
I moved the curtain aside
looked down
on a morning street
